What is your approach to Guitar Playing & Tonecrafting?
"My approach to playing guitar has been to do it with a lot of feeling and intensity, resulting in a powerful and emotionally charged performance. I tend to let those emotions fuel my playing, executing it with conviction and purpose. I like to feel that the attack my hand brings to the strings is what creates the sound. I lose myself in the music. Living the lifestyle to its fullest is what brings the sound to me, drives my playing, and allows me to express myself freely through my guitar.
For tonecrafting, you have to be aware of a few things to be able to nail it every time. The guitar of your choice – yes, pickups matter – a good amp, and being aware of having the right speakers are crucial. For me, the speakers and the room shape the guitar sound more than we think, and they are elements that we tend to not give as much attention to as we do to the rest of the gear. That's why sometimes when you are on tour with the same equipment every day, you can still feel the difference in sound from stage to stage, and that comes from the room you are in, for example. Remember that achieving the perfect metal tone often requires a combination of gear, technique, and feeling. At the end of the day, it's all in your fingers!"
Which guitarists inspired you?
"This list could be endless, but in a nutshell, it includes: Tony Iommi, Jimi Hendrix, Buddy Guy, Eddie Van Halen, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Yngwie Malmsteen, Kirk Hammett and James Hetfield, Adrian Smith, Jeff Hanneman, Andreas Kisser, and Moyses Kolesne."
How did the idea for a NAM Profile pack come around?
"The idea likely originated from the desire to provide guitarists with easy access to high-quality guitar tones tailored to specific genres, playing styles, or artists that have a relation with me and the sounds I've been around my whole life. Guitarists can improve their tone in one click, offering a convenient way to access a wide range of tones without the need for expensive gear or extensive tweaking.
Especially with the Swedish Death Metal HM-2 style sounds that we've developed in collaboration with Satanic Audio and their expertise in crafting signature tones, we've achieved something unique and special: the ability to recreate guitar sounds from specific albums or eras with just one click. It's essentially Death and Thrash Metal in a box, not to mention some of the clean tones and impulses that are ideal for lead bluesy sounds, which have been a part of my wheelhouse for a long while."
Who should use these Tone Packs?
"This tone pack caters to a wide range of guitarists, from beginners to advanced players, as well as studio engineers and producers. For beginner guitarists, it offers an opportunity to discover new sounds and styles as they develop their playing skills. Advanced players will appreciate the ability to recreate the sounds of their favorite artists or explore different genres. This tone pack provides a wealth of inspiration and creative possibilities.
Engineers can benefit from the ability to quickly dial in desired guitar tones, allowing them to focus on capturing the best performances without spending excessive time on tone tweaking. Live performers will find assurance in solid and consistent tones from show to show. Songwriters and composers can utilize the tone pack to find the perfect soundscapes to complement their songs and bring their musical vision to life."
